WHAT'S SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT CLIMATEGATE? EVERYTHING
Rick, let me give you a real world example of science bias at work. I'm a primary care physician. Until I refused to continue to see them, several pharmaceutical reps per week would buy lunch for my staff and me and try to persuade me to prescribe their products. They always had scientific studies that purported why their product was better than the competition. None of the studies was false in the sense that they were fabricated, but they couldn't ALL be true. Science is quite capable of posing questions in such a way or statistically treating data so that the questions they want answered in the affirmative continue to be answered in the affirmative. They are human beings, not gods. I find it easy to accept that the scientists at CRU and allied centers believed in the reality of climate change so that they adjusted raw data to agree with their foregone conclusions. All of us have biases. Show me a doctor, lawyer or candlestick maker who claims to be bias-free and I'll show you a liar. The real "deniers" in this sorry mess are those who masquerade as totally objective, disinterested scientists. BULLS***!

The usual suspects are waving their respective bloody shirts to get attention. Reminds me of the 2007 bridge collapse here in Minneapolis. The bodies weren't even cold when lefty bloggers were trying to blame Gov. Pawlenty's budget cuts for the disaster. When the NTSB report was issued a year later, faulting the bridge design from 1967, you could have heard a pin drop.

From reading the bill I take it that the Feds want employer based health insurance to continue. I don't think the administrative machinery of medicare could absorb all the non-Medicare population plus the uninsured. At least, not right away. The problem with the bill is the tremendous expense. It can't succeed by simply taxing the wealthy, though it tries. The testimony from the CBO was a torpedo to the idea that change can come at no additional expense. Rationing already exists, and would continue. Want to get the market involved? End the tax deduction for employers and let individuals have it. You can try insurance mandates to force healthy people to buy insurance, but then you'll have another revolt on your hands.

Three Al Qaeda operatives were waterboarded in 2003 and intelligence gathered that likely stopped repeat 9/11 attacks which would have killed thousands. We dropped two nuclear bombs on defenseless Japanese civilians in August 1945 to avoid invading Japan and causing millions of Japanese and American military deaths. Some have said we should have used alternative means to end WWII. As the son of a Naval officer who would have participated in the invasion, I say, poppycock.

Obama has never been in the position of having to send men to their deaths. In fairness, neither had George Bush or Bill Clinton. For Clinton, the experience in Somalia must have been terrifying given how rapidly he withdrew our troops after the Blackhawk Down incident. In spite of the left's derision of Bush and his National Guard background, he showed that he was made of the right stuff when it came to supporting the troops and their families, Cindy Sheehan notwithstanding. Obama is untested, but as soon as he tries to make good his campaign promise to capture Bin Laden there are going to be more Americans returning home in body bags. It's the nature of the business.Does he own the intestinal fortitude to give the order?

I agree with what Rick is saying. After the Obama election we don't lie down and underwrite all the cuckoo ideas he and his team will be foisting on America; but neither shall we employ BDS tactics that have served only to magnify distrust of the opposing side. There is a process for un-electing Obama: it means doing our homework for the next four years and pointing out where his flawed policies have created worse problems. I expect that the fawning news media will flip flop and do our work for us when the bloom starts to drop off the rose. Of course, with a one term Obama we have the prospect of Hill-Bill being resuurected for another run in 2012!

Chuck needs to look at film archives of President Eisenhower saying "nucular" before dismissing Palin (and a hell of a lot of other people) who mispronounce it. When I look at Obama's list of friends (Ayres, Rev. Goddamn America) I think I prefer Marge Gunderson or Sarah palin.

It has nothing to do with insulting Palin or defending her. It shows that Obama has forgotten that McCain is the real opponent. Obama's previous strategy of tying McCain to Bush has gone limp, leaving him with no apparent plan. So he resorts to a grade school taunt. Name calling will not win this election.

OBAMA'S SPEECH: NOT BAD AT ALL
The selection of Palin is brilliant and it caught everyone by surprise, which is why you are seeing so many Dems stumbling around trying to put a negative spin. If she were a bad choice they had anticipated we would be hearing clucks of delight. I think they are scared. She strikes me as someone with experience, tough and used to mixing it up with her own party, so say nothing of the opposition. And her husband is a steelworker. Can you think of a better way to tap the Clinton blue collar base than this?

DNC PREVIEW: 'COME HOME, AMERICA' REDUX
Part of me is rooting for the Obamatons to take over the reins of government, put their ideas into practice...and watch the subsequent train wreck. But the responsible side of me doesn't want to go through the clean up process required in the aftermath nor listen to the whining Left complain that things got worse because not enough of their ideas were implemented.
